First Grade Internship
Today I began my first day in a first grade classroom. The public schools expect so much of these young learners that they are forced to sit in a desk all day (or on the carpet) and participate in work, work, work. I am twenty-two-years old and sitting for an hour makes me fidgety. Every ten second pencils were flying in the air, children doing anything they could just to escape the prison of their desks.
Teacher Challenge: What can we do to make this process creative and fun for all students?
A: Think out of the box and out of the workbook.
More on this to come…
