Ask children where food comes from. If they tell you that it comes from the grocery store, we haven’t been doing our job.

A school in Ashville, North Carolina have been improving their students’ eating habits by letting them participate in numerous projects. The students have their own garden where they grow vegetables and are also encouraged to try locally grown produce. The garden serves as a laboratory for the class. The children are more eager to try new foods when it is something they have worked hard on together. By acquiring taste for healthier foods, the more likely they will continue to keep these in their diet.

All in the fight against childhood obesity. Can you set an example?
